We have no doubt that will still shoot point of aim and be just as accurate today as it was in 1945. The bore in this Enfield is in good condition overall, showing some light pitting/darkness in the grooves of the rifling but strong and bright lands throughout. The original factory serial numbers on the receiver, bolt, and barrel (barrel is marked under the handguard/stock just ahead of receiver on left side)are crisp and clear. All of the factory markings are still clean and legible on all of the metal parts, including the proof markings on the top of the barrel. As you can see from the pictures, the black finish shows some high-edge wear as well as numerous small handling marks and spots of finish loss/wear, but has a very consistent patina to it that is attractive. This No.5 Mk.1 shows no arsenal rework markings and still retains the vast majority of it's original factory "stove black" anti-corrosion finish. As mentioned earlier, this Jungle Carbine is in very good condition overall, particularly for an issued and carried weapon of WW2. This gun has all-matching serial numbers except for the magazine, and is unit marked to the Royal Army Service Corps Headquarters Company on the stock with the painted red over green diagonal marking on the left side of the butt. 303 British manufactured in March of 1945.
